Fenway Park seeking license for three-day concert in August 2014 – who would you like to see perform?

The beat of the Green Monster will roll on in 2014. The Red Sox have a 10am appointment on Wednesday, September 18, to meet with the City’s Mayor’s Office of Consumer Affairs and Licensing to request approval for a three-day concert at Fenway Park. The permit hearing was first reported this morning by the Boston Hospitality and Tourism Industry blog.

Jay Z and Justin Timberlake recently performed a pair of shows at the ballpark on August 10 and 11, and recent guests since 2003 include the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, and Aerosmith.

Three nights, however, are another tall order, and suggests some pretty big names could be coming to Fenway next summer. And we don’t mean Shin-Soo Choo.

So we ask: Who would you like to see play Kenmore Square’s biggest rock club? Add your suggestion into the comments below…

For us, we’ve long given up on our Pearl Jam prediction now that Theo’s gone. And somehow we don’t think the Stone Roses could pull off a triple-header anywhere in the USA. Arcade Fire? One Direction? Miley?

This morning, 98.5 the Sports Hub’s Toucher & Rich speculated on a festival like Boston Calling, but we can’t envision 10,000+ out on the Fenway dirt mucking things up for the Olde Towne Team. John Lackey would kick someone’s ass, no doubt.

Here is the agenda item for Wednesday’s meeting:

Fenway Park,
4 Lansdowne St., Boston

Requests: To conduct a performance of instrumental and vocal music to take place on Thursday, August 7, 2014, Friday, August 8, 2014, and Saturday, August 9, 2014 from 5:00 PM to 10:30 PM
Applicant & M.O.R.: Larry Cancro
