[dropcap]I[/dropcap]t’s been a slow and steady climb for Los Angeles electro-pop duo Capital Cities. Breakout single “Safe & Sound” was first released back in 2011 off the pair’s Lazy Hooks label, but after love and attention from Perez Hilton and international ad campaigns (Hello, Germany!), the lush, pulsating synth jam is finally getting the attention it deserves. Now that it’s a bona fide hit, Capital Cities have a sweet record deal with Columbia and a national tour with Fitz & the Tantrums that hits Boston’s House of Blues on October 28. Meanwhile, Capital Cities debut LP, In A Tidal Wave Of Mystery – named after a lyric lifted from “Safe & Sound” — was released in June, crashing the Billboard Hot 200 album chart at number 66. A few years on, the song shows no signs of slowing down, and neither do Capital Cities.
