“Take A Walk,” the first single off Passion Pit’s sophomore record Gossamer, got some primo TV airtime last year by sound tracking Taco Bell’s “Doritos Locos” advertising campaign. It seemed odd at the time, but it was only a sign of things to come: The fast food chain this week released a 51-minute documentary on the Boston-born, New York-based electro-pop band titled Hello Everywhere, and it arrives less than two weeks before Passion Pit headlines the second night of Boston Calling at City Hall Plaza.
The Sam Jones-directed documentary follows Passion Pit at SXSW and details Michael Angelakos’ tour experiences, and also includes up-and-coming Los Angeles band Wildcat! Wildcat!, who are at Great Scott on September 29 with Savoir Adore.
Passion Pit played a Taco Bell party during SXSW Interactive back in March, and the Hype Machine’s Hotel was presented by Taco Bell, making it a hot destination offering up free tacos and showcasing bands like Foxygen, Mac DeMarco, and Youth Lagoon.
Also, in a bit of Boston Calling continuity, Passion Pit has also remixed “Elevate” by New York’s St. Lucia, who played the fest back in May.
