[dropcap]T[/dropcap]hey may or may not be named for the South African mining fields, but that’s irrelevant once propulsive single “Dark Again (Lights Out)” starts vibrating out of the speakers. Throwing a dance party in your house? Just set “Dark Again” to play after Cut Copy’s “Lights & Music,” riding sweet at 128 bpm, and you’ll be the toast of the living room by the time the first chorus hits. Must be something going on in Australia. Gold Fields’ debut EP on Astralwerks set the tone in 2012, and the party hasn’t stopped since.
Catch Gold Fields live at the Middle East in Cambridge on October 8 with Rush Midnight, Color Channel, and Moniker.
