With September’s Boston Calling Music Festival serving up a more eclectic and electronic bill than the indie-centric lineup of this past May, it’s no surprise that a homegrown DJ would eventually be added to the bill. And with the fest four weeks away, that DJ is longtime Boston nightlife fixture DJ Frank White.
White will hit the decks at City Hall at noon each day, September 7 and 8, warming up kickoff performances by Massachusetts acts Bearstronaut and You Won’t. The 2012 Boston Music Awards DJ of the Year will officially open both days as fans filter through the gates, and might get some afternoon action if any of the schedules fall behind.
Outside of Boston Calling, White can be found DJing anywhere around town from Good Life and Middlesex Lounge to Alibi and Down Ultra Lounge. Check out his most recent It’s The Weekend mix below, which is available for free download and features 56 tracks, including Boston Calling performing artists Major Lazer and Kendrick Lamar.
Boston Calling is headlined next month by Passion Pit and Vampire Weekend, and also brings Local Natives, Wolfgang Gartner, Solange, the Airborne Toxic Event, the Gaslight Anthem, Bat For Lashes, Deer Tick, Flume, Flosstradamus, Big Black Delta, Lucius, and Okkervil River to City Hall Plaza.
Individual-day and weekend tickets are on sale now.
