As soon as news of Samuel Yager’s bicycle accident and subsequent hospitalization started circulating earlier this week, benefit shows and other fund-raising opportunities for the “Babydude” started to take shape. While events in Yager’s hometown of Saratoga Springs, New York, and Brooklyn are being organized, Dreamhaus and the FMLY have announced one here in Boston for the musician known as Birthdays: SAMMYFEST takes place on Friday, August 9 at Dreamhaus in Allston, featuring a one-night-only performance from Truman Peyote, a reunited Philip Seymour Hoffman, and sets from Mutual Benefit, Yohuna, and Dreamhaus resident Emily Reo.
Check here for the Facebook event page, and for the Dreamhaus address, email Reo at emily@thefmly.com. Yager’s progress can be monitored via the Babydude Watch, set up by friends in Upstate New York to detail his recovery; as of today, Yager is still in a coma at Albany Medical Center and heavily sedated, but is expected to start responding to breathing tubes and IVs in the next few days.
Here’s the event description for SAMMYFEST from the good folks at Dreamhaus… <3
“the heart of our hearts, Babydude is in some serious need of good thoughts + love ~~~ so we are coming together to appreciate our friends and celebrate one of the most special humans alive by playing tunes in his honor and collecting donations to help ease the expenses for him and BabyMom! please come join us, in honor of sammy!”
feel free to bring food and drinks to share, cards or gifts for sammy (we will be making many trips to visit him in the near future), and donations ~~~ no one will be turned away for lack of $$$ but this is a fundraiser for our dude so plz try to contribute what you can if at all possible!
