A good year for the Violent Femmes has just gotten better. In April, the alternative rock trio reformed after a three-year absence to play Coachella, and today, former Dresden Doll drummer — and all around very excellent person — Brian Viglione announced he has joined the band.
Viglione, who among a bunch of other notable things has also drummed for New York cabaret punk band World/Inferno Friendship Society and performed on Nine Inch Nails record Ghosts I-IV, replaces Victor DeLorenzo, a founding member who had parted ways with the Femmes in 1993 but rejoined in 2002.
The 34-year-old New Hampshire native broke the news a few hours ago via Facebook.
Good morning! It’s with inexpressible joy that I announce this news today. This band has meant so much to me over the years and now to team up with them as their new drummer is a dream come true. Let the fun begin…
Our next shows are:September 12th, Rumsey Playfield (Central Park) NYC
September 14th, at Riot Fest in Chicago, IL
