It’s a rainy spring day in Boston, so how about some surf rock to liven the mood and make us feel emotionally closer to summer? Tim Oxton of POLAROIDS, the rock trio who played the Vaynaland relaunch last week, today unveiled a pretty sweet cover of Grimes’ “Oblivion,” swapping out the synths for some surf-rock croonage.
“I got bored today and in two hours recorded a surfy cover of Grimes ‘Oblivion,'” wrote Oxton on Facebook when he posted the track with little fanfare. Via chat, he told Vanyaland he wasn’t sure if it was fit for Polaroids so he just busted it out solo. You know, rainy-day boredom type shit.

Catch Polaroids live at O’Brien’s Pub in Allston this Thursday, May 30, with Vundabar and others. Maybe they’ll bust this one out, and it’ll be a Polaroids jam by then. UPDATE: It is now officially a Polaroids jam. Sweet.
