This Sunday, April 20, join Vanya Radio in celebrating Easter as we spin “I Am The Resurrection” by the Stone Roses on repeat for 24 hours.
Hear demos, live versions, and the familiar eight-minute jam session, starting at midnight Saturday and continuing throughout the holiday. The schedule will run on local time.
For years in Boston, “I Am The Resurrection” was the preferred “last song of the night” at The Pill on the Friday before Easter Sunday. The long-running indie dance party started in October 1997 in North Station and concluded a nearly 17-year run this past December at Great Scott in Allston. Sometimes the instrumental “rave” outro was played, other times it was not.
For this Sunday, expect a bit of everything.
We have a couple different versions of the track, from Jon Carter’s Madchester remix to concert clips to the classic track first featured on the Roses’ legendary 1989 debut, so we’ll shake up the sound and feel just a little bit.
But it’ll be strictly “I Am The Resurrection” for 24 hours straight.
Tune in for five minutes, or five hours. Pop it on as you head to mass, or en route to Aunt Ester’s in Quincy. Tune in before the Bruins game, or at that Patriots Day Eve party in Allston.
Jesus was resurrected, and now so is Boston radio.
