Van Buren Records exclaim their excellence with new single ‘Damn!’

Screengrab

“Damn!” is the new DAMN. Maybe that’s blasphemy, or maybe that’s us declaring that if you’re not on the Van Buren Records bandwagon, you had better hop on now. The Brockton hip-hop collective delivered another fireball last week (July 3) called “Damn!”, which arrived on the heels of their June single “Doin Too Much”.

The track and accompanying video present a circular collaboration, melding distinct flows from FELIX!, Luke Bar$, and Jiles into a seamless stream of verses. But perhaps what’s most notable here is an offhand remark in the background around the song’s halfway point.

“Ah, that’s a Van Buren right there,” coos a feminine voice, as if identifying a painting in an art gallery. We’re getting deep enough into the group’s catalog that their style is erring on instantly-recognizable. If that doesn’t make you mutter “damn,” then damn it, what will?

Tune in below.
