One of our favorite past times here on this online music magazine is taking two genre labels and — boom! — making up a whole new genre. But what happens if we combine bands names for the same effect? We end up lounging around listening to some Slywave.
Our favorite new genre as of six seconds ago has announced a fall headlining tour, and the extended title spells it all out: “Joywave and Sir Sly Present: An Evening With Sir Sly and Joywave.” The two alt-indie bands (see what we did there?) are joining forces (separately, but together) for a co-headlining run that hits Boston’s Royale on October 19. Tickets go on sale to the public this Friday (July 27) at 10 a.m. local time, and slywave.com has the info you need. .
“We spent quite a bit of time this past year on the road having some of the largest acts in music close for us,” says Daniel Armbruster of Joywave. “Using a ‘tour generator’ website, we were assigned a co-headline tour with Sir Sly.” Adds Landon Jacobs of Sir Sly: “It’s been an extremely enjoyable year for us, and we were under the impression that we were the biggest band in the world. After talking to our managers, turns out we’re the exact same size as Joywave, which is pretty exciting too.”
