Shoegazi Forever: Listen to fuzzy Fugazi tribute comp ‘A Steady Gaze of Nothing’

A few weeks ago we hyped a compilation paying tribute to Massachusetts trio Galaxie 500, the latest effort from prolific Brazilian-based operation The Blog That Celebrates Itself Records. The Sao Paulo non-profit outlet, part of website The Blog That Celebrates Itself, has been churning out these tribute comps lately, with recent releases honoring Catherine Wheel, Chapterhouse, and Echo & The Bunnymen.

Today, they venture where few have gone before, and may have possibly coined a new genre in doing so — Shoegazi. (Note: we’re sure this exists, somewhere on the internet, so don’t bother emailing us MacKayesplaining its proper origin).

The 13-track comp is titled Steady Gaze of Nothing – A Reverence to Fugazi, and bands a baker’s dozen shoegaaze, noise-pop, and fuzzy rock bands together all in the name of the influential post-hardcore band.

There’s even some Northeast flavor in here as well, as Boston-born, New York-based Coaches deliver a rousing take on 1988 anti-rape song “Suggestion.”

Listen to the whole thing below, and download it at no cost via The Blog That Celebrates Itself’s Bandcamp.
