Former Del Fuegos guitarist Adam Roth, who is currently working on the FX music drama series Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll, has been recently diagnosed with Stage Four Bile Duct Cancer. Over the weekend, a GoFundMe page was established by his family, and it has pulled in more than $70,000 in less than 24 hours.
In addition to playing with the Jim Carroll Band and his solo work, Roth joined Boston’s Del Fuegos in the late ’80s, and in time to record 1989 album Smoking in the Fields. Since then, he’s worked in television and radio as a composer and music writer, and often collaborated with Denis Leary. In addition to writing music for Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll, Roth is also is the guitar “voice” for actor John Corbett and tech adviser for the show. His full bio can be read here.
Below is the description of Roth’s situation, pulled from the GoFundMe page.
To the many friends that know and love Adam Roth
It’s time to come together and return the love and laughter he has provided us all these years.
Adam was recently diagnosed with Stage Four Bile Duct Cancer.
We need to act fast, as this is a dire situation. Adam is ready and willing to fight this tooth and nail. He has decided to forgo the western medicine route as it has provided no hope for a cure. He is seeking alternative treatments which are sadly not covered by insurance. We need your help.
We’d appreciate any contribution, whether it’s a dollar or ten thousand dollars. It will all add up. Thank you so much for your help and we ask that you share this Go Fund Me page with everyone you know. With all the love we have for Adam, let’s do everything we can to keep him here for years to come.
Love and Gratitude
The Roth family.
