UPDATE July 29: Due to demand, this show has been moved to the Sinclair in Cambridge.
Every band gets compared to older, classic bands these days, but it’s rare you see a modern act get thrown into the ring of Queen and the Rolling Stones. But that’s what’s happening to the Struts, a British rock band led by explosive singer Luke Spiller, who can’t seem to shake those pesky comparisons to Freddie Mercury, Mick Jagger, and hell, even a young Tim Curry.
But early comparisons eventually fall flat if you can’t deliver, and so far, the Struts have been fulfilling the promise. After opening for the Stones in France last year and building a cult following around England with their glommed out, rock-and-roll-anthem live show, the band has set their sights on America fresh off a new label deal with Interscope.
And it all goes down just in time for breakout song “Could Have Been Me,” a fixture these days on VanyaRadio, to start dominating what’s left of rock’s FM dial and rock clubs across the Lower 48.
Relavant to our local interests is an October 25 show at the Middle East in Cambridge, a part of North American romp that includes appearances at Daytime Village at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas and Philadelphia’s Made In America. Not a bad look.
That Middle East show here in town should be a banger.
Don’t sleep. Check some tunes, and the full run of dates below.
