When Richard Ashcroft opened for Liam Gallagher at the Pavilion a few months back, the man appeared to be in phenomenal spirits, ripping through an opening set that mixed classics from The Verve as well as standouts from his back-on-track solo career.
Ashcroft told a bunch of stories and anecdotes on stage that cool spring night, but he kept one thing a secret from the Boston audience: Word of a new album.
That word is now out of the bag (no cat included), as Mad Richard will release his fifth solo album, Natural Rebel, on October 19. Ashcroft wrote all 10 tracks on the LP, according to The NME, with production assistance from Jon Kelly and Emre Ramazanoglu. “With experience comes knowledge and for me this is my strongest set of songs to date,” Ashcroft says of the new LP. “All my favorite sounds distilled into something that will hopefully give my fans lasting pleasure. It is for them. Music is power.”
Song titles include opener “All My Dreams,” “Surprised By The Joy,” and “That’s When I Feel It.” Natural Rebel is the follow-up to his fantastic 2016 effort, These People. Peep the album art below.
