Please don’t feel overwhelmed, but DREAMERS just rolled out three new pop-rock bangers for your TGIF indulgence. The SoCal group’s latest efforts come neatly packaged as the LAUNCH EP, which takes recent rock and roll skyscraper jam “SCREWS” and amplifies their sound to even greater heights. This new effort is just the tip of the new music iceberg for Dreamers, who have another EP and their sophomore album on the way, but we’ll need some time to properly digest all that’s going on here.
Taking a sonic cue from the mechanical passion of “SCREWS,” LAUNCH tracks like “Karma” and “Black & White” are alt-pop rippers that further Dreamers’ penchant for glistening, hook-heavy alt-rock, while “Fake It Til You Make It” could possibly save FM rock radio’s suddenly dry summer playlists. The song’s are all connected in vibe and message; tales of love and loss and disenchantment in this modern world. Dreamers are a musical clubhouse for the jilted who never give up hope or ambition. Sometimes the band name is the badge.
“One of the things we want to do is form some kind of tribe for people who might feel alone, or who can’t really find themselves in mainstream culture,” says DREAMERS bassist Nelson. Adds vocalist/guitarist Nick Wold: “When you hear someone else express the same pain you’re going through, you realize that you’re not alone in the world. Almost everyone else out there has dealt with those feelings, because it’s all a part of being alive. Sometimes the best thing to do is just listen to the music you love, drink some wine, get it all out, and then move on.”
That pretty much sums it up. Inevitably vaulted by this new EP, DREAMERS set out on a North American tour later this year, and it stops at Brighton Music Hall in Allston on September 30. Full run of dates after the jump.
