Ever since we caught up with Sigrid for a Q&A last summer, we’ve been jonesin’ for some North American tour dates. Now, the 21-year-old Norwegian pop singer, who won the BBC’s Sound of 2018 poll, is finally headed our way, though we here in New England will have to get in the car to catch the rising “Strangers” star in action.
Sigrid has revealed three club dates around her April appearance at Coachella, including an April 11 date at Toronto’s Velvet Underground and an April 25 gig at Bowery Ballroom in New York City. No Boston date, boo hoo, but we have a feeling she’ll be headed our way soon.
Especially with this latest honor from the BBC.
“It’s a lot to take in to have won something as prestigious as BBC Music Sound Of,” she tells the broadcasting company. “I feel honoured as there are so many other artists I look up to who have won this before me, and honestly, I’m just really happy and proud of what my team and I have achieved together. I’m from a small town called Ålesund in Norway. I’m still 21 and it’s quite crazy to get this recognition. I’m very excited about the year ahead and sharing new music with everyone. I want to thank the panel for voting and the team involved in BBC Music Sound of 2018.”
