“Watch this space” — it’s a common refrain used often, and most of the time, the watching ends in disappointment.
Not this time.
Vanyaland has teamed up with Center Plaza in downtown Boston for a unique and collaborative artist space, and we tried out the new digs earlier this week with a stripped down performance and interview with California alt-pop band Night Riots.
Watch Night Riots perform “Contagious” and “Oh My Heart” below. Shortly after their session with us overlooking City Hall Plaza, they raced back to the Paradise Rock Club for their show with the Mowgli’s.
And even they loved what they saw at Center Plaza, billed as a transit-oriented office and retail complex conveniently located exactly between Boston City Hall and Pemberton Square.
Music fans who attend Boston Calling will no doubt recognize the structure’s crescent shape, which peaks out across Cambridge Street over the stages at the bi-annual music festival. The three engaging lobby spaces provide instant access, and Vanyaland’s temporary session space is a short elevator ride upward as Center Plaza undergoes a significant renovation program to eventually house new retail and dining spaces along the 900 square-feet of frontage. For those hanging with us this summer — and for their eventual tenants — there is immediate access to two MBTA stations, Faneuil Hall, Downtown Crossing, and Beacon Hill.
Watch this space, indeed. And spread the word, exciting things are often “Contagious.”
