Here’s a trailer for Tom DeLonge’s ‘Monsters of California’

By any pop-punk metric, Tom DeLonge has had one of the most bizarre post-peak popularity careers within the genre. The dude owns a company devoted to accumulating evidence in order to prove that UFOs exist (and they most likely do) and claims to know about creatures lurking behind the dimensional veil between realities. It’s weird and very fun, especially when folks start accusing him of being a CIA plant. It only makes sense that he’d head into the film world to advance his interests, and on Thursday, DeLonge dropped the first trailer for his directorial debut, Monsters of California. What a time to be alive, my dudes.

Peep it:

Here’s a synopsis straight from the press release announcing the trailer:

“Described as a coming-of-age adventure with a sci-fi twist, ‘Monsters of California’ follows teenager Dallas Edwards and his misfit friends as they attempt to unearth answers to a series of mysterious, paranormal events happening around Southern California. As they peel back the layers on this onion of the unexplainable, they unravel the extraordinary secrets held within the deepest levels of the Government.”

And, to follow that, here’s a goofy quote from DeLonge himself:

“Anyone who knows me, or follows me on social media, knows I’m no stranger to the paranormal, which is why directing ‘Monsters of California’ was a no brainer[…] The film takes my fascination with the unexplained, combines it with the skate culture I grew up a part of, and tosses in my ridiculous sense of humor that millions got to witness during my blink-182 days. In recent years, I’ve had the good fortune of helping the Government remember how much they care about UFOs through the work we do at To The Stars, and it’s that experience which helped inspirethis movie. I can’t wait for audiences to see the f**ked up fun adventure these kids go on.”

No word yet on when you’ll see Monsters of California, but you can bet we’ll be there day one, just like with every other hilarious rock star vanity project. Danzig better call his mother.
