Studio 52 Spotlight: HarborLights
What Studio 52 Says: Post-rock ensemble HarborLights have spent the better part of the decade polishing their sleek and captivating musical collective. With more than a handful of releases in their repertoire, their latest offering from two Octobers ago, Under the Spreading Chestnut Tree, is a calculatingly serene melodic rock keepsake. Each track takes it time building towards a resolution, crashing over and over again in the process like waves on a beach during hurricane season. The quartet puts instrumentals front and center by weaving their intricacies together to form a captivating rhythmic amalgamation of epic proportions. With news of their first full-length LP looming on the horizon, HarborLights’ second show of the new year was slated as support for Venezuelan juggernauts Zeta. Unfortunately because of issues relating to immigration, Zeta had to drop off the bill. However the show must go on as now the remaining bands are pivoting the gig to a benefit show by donating the proceeds towards immigration appeals as well as the venue matching the door money for RAICES. Swing by O’Brien’s Pub this Monday night (February 18) for a good cause and catch HarborLights with The Hurt Ensemble and Weathered Friends.
