Vanyaland turned 13 earlier this month, and the occasion has got us reflecting. Not on anything too heavy, but just how free and hopeful life was back when we all started this site in 2013. And soundtracking the sentiment was the mighty Icona Pop, the Swedish duo that returns with a new high-energy electro banger of hopeful desire called “Butterfly Feelings.” Life was a lot better when Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo were feeding us a glossy diet of beats n’ treats, so we’re quick to add this one and all its euphoric vulnerability to our retro-modern playlists. “‘Butterfly Feelings’ is a little song about falling stupidly in love,” the duo shares. “We were thinking of all the times when we had that feeling. You try to deny it in the beginning, but you can’t stop thinking about this person.” Or that band. Or that moment.
