Editor’s Note: Even in the dead of winter, there is never a shortage of comedy shows to check out around Boston, as homegrown talent, national headliners, and open mics galore make their way through and around the area. As live entertainment slowly makes its way back into our social calendar — mask up! stay safe! — we always want to make sure you know about cool stuff going on in the world of comedy. Enter Mic’d Up, our ongoing weekly series that details the best live comedy shows to consider as you head back out. Below find our rundown for this week, through Sunday (January 9).

Eddie Griffin at The Wilbur Theatre

Occupying stages in clubs, arenas, and every type of space in between for years, Eddie Griffin’s refusal to settle for anything but top rank is still evident. As you’ll see at The Wilbur this weekend, Griffin isn’t afraid to tackle a wide range of topics, but what is most important is that no matter the avenue he travels, the perspective is always genuinely Eddie.

Friday, January 7 :: 7:30 p.m. :: The Wilbur Theatre, 246 Tremont St. in Boston :: Tickets are $29 to $50

Comedy Night at The District

If you’re looking for a good time outside of the city limits this weekend, let a trio of some of the Commonwealth’s best persuade you on where to go. Join host Izzy da Rosa as she navigates a night of stand-up excellence with comedic precision of her own, featuring Mike McCarthy and “the queen” herself, Christine Hurley.

Friday, January 7 :: 8 p.m. :: District Center For The Arts, 15 Court St. in Taunton, MA :: Tickets are $20

Comedy Party at Zone 3

Wherever it might take place, the Comedy Party stops for no man, and that’ll be even more evident as a smattering of headliners makes their way to Allston’s Zone 3 for a night of high-quality comedy, per the Comedy Party standard.

Friday, January 7 :: 7:30 p.m. :: Zone 3, 267 Western Ave. in Boston, MA :: Tickets are $20

Corey Manning at The Comedy Attic

Regardless of the topic, Manning’s collected, slow-burn approach leaves nothing off-limits while keeping it real all the way to the end. Underneath the musings of fatherhood, relationships and simply trying his best day after day, there lies a pure ability to make everyone in the room feel like a friend while delivering the laughing gas that makes his sets such an enjoyable experience.

Friday, January 7 and Saturday, January 8 :: 8 p.m. both shows :: The Comedy Attic, 257 Park Ave. in Worcester, MA :: Tickets are $20

(POSTPONED) Brian Glowacki at The Comedy Scene

Following an absolute clapping of the Jaguars at Gillette Stadium, Foxborough is thriving on a winning spirit going into the final game of the regular season. But who says Mac Jones can be the only one to lead a group to a W? Brian Glowacki is making his way back to Patriot Place early in 2022 to get things started on the right foot, and if you’re thinking about joining him, trusting that instinct would be a good idea.

Saturday, January 8 :: 8 p.m. :: The Comedy Scene, 200 Patriot Place in Foxborough, MA :: Tickets are $20
