Chevy Chase appreciates the lasting togetherness of ‘Christmas Vacation’

He may only be supplying himself, but when you’re Chevy Chase, that’s one hell of a contribution regardless of the event.

It just so happens that the event in question is An Evening with Chevy Chase, which lands at Lynn Memorial Auditorium on Friday (December 17), where the Saturday Night Live legend will be presenting National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation in all of its Yuletide glory, followed by a Q&A with those in attendance. It’ll be Chase’s second jaunt to Massachusetts with this gathering, as he made the trek to Worcester’s Hanover Theatre back in 2019. But looking ahead to this outing, he’s bringing a fun-loving energy that may or may not have everyone shouting “Hallelujah! Holy shit!”

“It really feels wonderful [to do these shows], because I really do love this movie, and quite frankly, I kind of forget how much I love it until I see it again,” Chase tells Vanyaland. “It’s very funny, and I love being there live, because people don’t see a movie star in person very often, and actors like me don’t always get to see the people that are watching them, so it’s great to have that feeling of togetherness.”

Now, while the parade of Lampoon classics have stood the test of time alongside Chase, he knows that there’s something extra special to be said for the lasting affect that the Griswold family’s dysfunctional holiday tale has had over the course of its 32-year existence. And that has him even more excited to share in this experience with what is sure to be a theater full of ugly Christmas sweaters and Blackhawks jerseys donned by the jolliest bunch of assholes this side of the nuthouse.
