Watch the trailer for Clint Eastwood’s ‘Richard Jewell’

It’s nice to know that Clint Eastwood has the same retirement plan as a whole lot of us millennials out there: He’s just going to keep working until he dies. Unlike with members of this current generation, however, we hope he continues to do so. We’ve had our disagreements with his latter-day output — remember The 15:17 to Paris or Hereafter anyone? — but films like Sully and The Mule are reminders that the man still has a sharp mind and a gentle touch. The trailer for his latest film, Richard Jewell, about the security guard who discovered a backpack full of bombs at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, saved hundreds of lives, and then was accused of planting the bag there in the first place, looks like it’s continuing in the mold of those latter two works. It helps that it has some incredible casting, with I, Tonya‘s Paul Walter Hauser taking the lead role (we love you, Jonah Hill, but we’re glad you missed out on this one).

Take a look:

Here’s a synopsis, though you probably could just watch this excellent 30 For 30 short instead:

“‘There is a bomb in Centennial Park. You have thirty minutes.’ The world is first introduced to Richard Jewell as the security guard who reports finding the device at the 1996 Atlanta bombing — his report making him a hero whose swift actions save countless lives. But within days, the law enforcement wannabe becomes the FBI’s number one suspect, vilified by press and public alike, his life ripped apart. Reaching out to independent, anti-establishment attorney Watson Bryant, Jewell staunchly professes his innocence. But Bryant finds he is out of his depth as he fights the combined powers of the FBI, GBI and APD to clear his client’s name, while keeping Richard from trusting the very people trying to destroy him.”

Richard Jewell hits theaters on December 13, which is crazy, given that Clint wrapped shooting on the project back in June.
