MUNYA is an artist busy looking every which way.

She’s playing the modern music game, releasing new EPs in quick succession; she’s going traditional and rolling all three of those same EPs into a record with a single click to Bandcamp. She’s paying homage to her Montreal roots and cooing in French; she’s treading bilingual waters and ushering in a newer, global approach to synth folk.

But, most importantly, she’s never torn because she’s got her options on lock.

Putting forth two new releases last Friday (March 8), the Canadian singer has both split her catalogue and compiled it. Blue Pine, her third EP, completes a trio of releases, while MUNYA, her self-titled debut full-length record, combines the tracks from each. As for her multilingual songwriting approach, she she slinks between English and Français artfully, and has the two meet on “Benjamin,” the most lush spot on both Blue Pine and MUNYA.

“It’s actually fun and I feel very lucky to have a larger toolset to create and connect with a larger group of people,” she says of writing in two languages. “I’m very grateful I can speak two languages and when it comes to making music it’s just natural for me to write either in French or English, the words come from my heart and sometimes they are in English, sometimes in French and sometimes both!”

Tune in to her self-titled debut below, or Blue Pine here.
