Maybe Lana Del Rey has been listening to too much Arctic Monkeys recently. Seemingly taking a page from the band’s new album, titled Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, the sadcore queen has released her new single “Mariners Apartment Complex.” With the opening lines “You took my sadness out of context/At the mariners apartment complex,” however, it’s hard not to draw a parallel between this song and her 2014 interview with The Guardian that used her quote “I wish I was dead already” as the headline. The tune is the first of two new tracks that Del Rey has slated to share this year, with “Venice Bitch” coming out on September 18, according to Pitchfork.
