We’ll have more soon on Pearl Jam’s mighty return to Boston, but in the meantime we bring you this important Labor Day PSA: A Hot Stove, Cool Music performance broke out at Fenway Park last night (September 2).

That’s when Bill Janovitz joined Pearl Jam on stage to perform what Eddie Vedder called one of his “all-time favorite songs” — Buffalo Tom’s “Taillights Fade.”

“This city’s been so good to this group and we’re so grateful,” Vedder told the crowd. “It’s always been such a great rock and roll city… one of my all-time favorite songs was from a band out of Boston called Buffalo Tom. And I’d like to share the honor of playing, we’d like to share the honor of playing centerfield with our friend Bill Janovitz, who’s gonna help me play, help us play, his song.”

Janovitz, declared a “hometown hero” by Vedder, took the stage and busted out his best townie accent, replying: “I wanna play it cool but ‘Dude I’m playing at Fenway Pahhk with Peal Jam.'”
