Rooney get busy, reveal 2018 dates for ‘A Cosmic Interlude Tour’

Hey Rooney, how’s it going? What’s good?

If Robert Schwartzman was sitting here with us, he’d probably respond: “Quite a lot, actually.”

Schwartzman is firing up his veteran power-pop project for A Cosmic Interlude Tour 2018, a 19-date North American run that finds its penultimate show landing at Allston’s Brighton Music Hall on September 21. It’ll be a big year for Schwartzman and his indelible knack for melodies and harmonies, as the tour coincides with the release of new music from his film, The Unicorn, which debuted at South-By-Southwest in March and it set to hit theaters in the fall.

“I’ve really enjoyed having consistency releasing new music each year and performing,” says Schwartzman. “We live in a time of exciting new technology that makes music, TV, films readily available and can help artists keep the flow, find a groove, so I’ve enjoyed embracing those tools. To that point, it’s also been inspiring and creatively liberating to focus on directing feature films, a longtime passion and goal, and find ways to contribute musically. It’s opened up a really exciting collaboration between film and music, which supports the work on tour and discovery.”

That collab will be on full display this fall, as Schwartzman’s tour content is said to pull from The Unicorn as well as Rooney’s nearly 20 years as a band. In 2016 they released their latest album, Washed Away. “Overall I’m happy to give Rooney supporters and concertgoers new music and a show every year, to keep doing what I love, so that’s something I hope to continue for years to come.”
