On 4/20, Cheech and Chong added to Newport Folk Festival

Well, today’s a certain day, and we’re not just talking abut the release of the 40th Anniversary Deluxe Collection of Up In Smoke. It’s April 20, or 4/20, a green-tinted 24-hour stretch when everyone reminds you that they do, in fact, smoke the izm.

Everyone is celebrating in their own special way on this 4/20, and that includes Newport Folk Festival, which has announced this morning that the legendary Cheech and Chong will perform at this years festival, going down July 27 ato 29 at Fort Adams State Park in Rhode Island.

“Extra points to anyone who had this on their bingo card,” Newport Folk tweeted earlier. “Cheech and Chong will be hitting the Fort this summer to join our Saturday lineup.”

The infamous duo, who have made a career of toking a fair share of grass, join an already impressive lineup at the sold-out fest. Newport Folk has been slowly “rolling” out the performer lineup over the past several weeks, and you don’t need that ganja to feel its effects.

Performing this year at Newport are Courtney Barnett, Brandi Carlisle, The Weather Station, Sturgill Simpson, Low Cut Connie, Gary Clark Jr., This Is The Kit, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Jenny Lewis, Valerie June, Margo Price, Hiss Golden Messenger, Moses Sumney, Lucius, Darlingside, Phoebe Bridgers, and many more.

Damn. That’s some good shit.
