It’s been one magma-hot minute since we jammed out to some Await Rescue. But that’s the thing about killer rock and roll bands, they have this strange ability to make it feel like they never went away when they return with new music. That seems to be the case this week for Boston’s bullshit-free rock quartet, who barge back into our lives with a six-track jammer EP called Tides. It’s the first taste of new tunes from the dudes in nearly two years, and Tides vaults them back to the front lines of our city’s never-ending guitar-rock obsession. If second track “Set You Free” doesn’t help save FM rock radio by year’s end, then maybe there’s truly no turning — or tuning — back. Soak up these new Await Rescue tracks below, and take the time to memorize all the exclamatory words and maximum riffage by the time Tides gets the record release party treatment June 2 at Great Scott. Be loud about it. Featured image by Matthew Morse Photography.
