Though we’ve been quietly watching Ronan make some moves behind the scenes for a few weeks now, now we get a chance for a more audibly excessive experience. The Boston-based project of Craig Joseph Ronan, who formerly did musical business as Roses, was just added to tonight’s Public Access TV and Honduras show at Great Scott in Allston. It seemed like a prime chance to explore Roman’s recent video for “New Flags,” a moody piece of atmospheric pop aided by a gritty visual directed by Sam Hamad. Here’s explanation we got, for added context: “A surreal take on the ‘day in the life’ of a gas station attendant, assumably Ronan himself. His nights are seemingly split between watching his own music video and working the pumps until things reach a surprising crescendo that tests the notions of ‘the self’ and our own dualities.” Take that mindset into Allston tonight.
