All Middle Kids do are write jams.
Last year’s “Edge of Town” remains one of the more enduring songs of 2017, one we’ll still be bumping a decade from now, and January’s jubilant “Mistake” proved the magic was no fluke. Today they return with a video for “On My Knees”, a rollicking bit of guitar-rock sweetness that feels limitless in its vertical bounce. It’s the latest cut off the Australian trio’s debut album Lost Friends, which hits May 4 via Domino.
“‘On My Knees’ is about rejecting the value system of the individual as the prime unit of society,” the band says in a statement. “It’s also about how suffering and disappointment can help change our perspective in a healthy way. When we stop focus on ‘winning’ and can submit to something bigger, or to each other, we are better people.”
Middle Kids are rolling towards our own edge of town when they play Brighton Music Hall in Allston on June 5, the third date on a 19-show monthlong run that also brings the band to Ohio’s Nelsonville Music Festival, Governors Ball in NYC, and Delaware’s Firefly Music Festival.
