Studio 52 Spotlight: Psychic Weight

What Studio 52 Says: Studio 52’s own Psychic Weight are a hardcore/punk powerhouse that hemorrhages anger through every moment of their songs like someone just busted open a fire hydrant filled with heavy riffing and eternal hatred of everything. One of the local hardcore scene’s most entertaining acts, bound to be seen playing shows in tactical gear, gimp masks, or simply their underwear, these guys do not dissapoint live. Musically they keep it unique and break the mold of typical hardcore by seemlessly adding in elements of ’90s grunge and heavy alt-rock throughout their entire repertoire. The six songs off their self titled EP will awaken any abhorrence laying dormant deep in your guts, and have you two-stepping in no time. With new songs written, along with the addition of a second guitarist, they seem to only be getting angrier and adding more to their already aggressive, filled out, and captivating sound. In between a fairly active gigging schedule they’ve found the time to record a new EP titled More Weight, which is set to be released in spring 2018 on cassette via Wide Eyed Noise. Come watch these guys self destruct and channel their acrimony at Sammy’s Patio tomorrow night (February 24) as support for Vaulted and alongside Distressor, Sick Minds, MouthBreather, and Myocastor Coypus.— Trevor McSweeney, Studio 52
