Oh hey Sloan are back

It might be a cold day in early February, but shit just got all kindsa warmer with the return of Sloan.

The veteran Canadian power-pop band is back with their first new album in four years, titled Sloan 12 and due April 6 via Murderecords/Yep Roc Records, and a dependably catchy new jam in “The Day Will Be Mine.” Listen to it below.

This new record features equal contributions from the quartet, as each member provided three songs apiece to compose the LP. That marks a heightened sense of collaboration than found on 2014’s Commonwealth. “That album was more of everyone retreating to corners to produce and sequence a side of their own material,” says Sloan’s Jay Ferguson. “This one would potentially have more collaboration than usual.”

To celebrate Sloan 12, Halifax’s proper gentlemen will set out on a 34-date North American tour that circles back for a May 7 date at Brighton Music Hall in Allston. Tickets go on sale Friday (February 9).

Peep all the dates once you’re properly warmed up.
