Two years ago, Oh Malô went on and on about missing you like hell. In the years since, it’s been all of us missing them, as the Boston-born guitar-rock quartet laid low as they reshuffled their experimental deck, relocated to Brooklyn, and widened their sonic scope. Today (January 26), they return with a new single titled “Don’t Look, Don’t Stare,” and the fidgety, percussive-heavy tune is the sharp arrival of a new chapter in the band’s evolving career. As with everything birthed by Oh Malô, the textured track takes a few listens to properly unpack, so allow it to swirl around your headpiece in the days leading up to the band’s live show this Monday (January 29) at Elsewhere in Brooklyn. Guitarist/vocalist Brandon Hafetz tells Vanyaland that this single serves as the first in a lead-up to a new EP set for spring release, and we’re already looking, staring at the calendar anticipating its release. Welcome back, Oh Malô.
