Drake Bell is playing Loretta’s Last Call and hey we have some questions

It’s been 10 years since Nickelodeon sitcom Drake & Josh went off the air, and apparently, what we have to show for it is co-star Drake Bell performing at Boston country venue Loretta’s Last Call next month.

Let’s be clear: When Bell’s song “I Found A Way” dropped in 2004 as the theme for Drake & Josh, it was a certified bop. Since then, the former Nick star has released three full-length albums and a 2017 EP named Honest. Most recently, he had a lil’ Twitter tiff when he saw that old co-star Josh Peck didn’t invite him to his wedding (can’t blame you, fam). But none of this information explains why Bell will be playing an afternoon “Sunday Funday” show at Boston country/Western venue Loretta’s Last Call on January 21.

We haven’t been this shook since we discovered Gibby from iCarly is now a DJ.

Loretta’s Last Call is a charming venue across the way from Fenway Park on Lansdowne Street, filled with catfish sliders, fried green tomatoes, and hot chicken bites. The joint hosts free line dance lessons every Sunday, along with other live bluegrass and country music shows, including the rotating Country Club series. How our Nickelodeon stalwart Drake Bell fits into this equation we know not.

Honest is not a country album (it’s a pop-rock journey, thanks), so how’d he get booked at Loretta’s? Why is he performing at 5:30 in the afternoon when all of his millennial fans are grown now? How many orders of moonshine will he drink before the night is over and he saunters to Lucky Strike? Will Josh Peck be there with open arms to apologize and “hug him, brotha!”?

These are all Honest questions. Next month, we’ll find out the answers.
