Listen to Morrissey’s warm new single ‘Jacky’s Only Happy When She’s Up On The Stage’

Morrissey released a new single this morning, titled “Jacky’s Only Happy When She’s Up On The Stage.”

At first we weren’t going to post it, because we’ve hyped the first two singles off his forthcoming album Low In High School — “Spent The Day In Bed” (boooo) and “I Wish You Lonely” (yayyyy) — and we figured we’d take a bit of a break. But then we remembered we wrote about Moz canceling his California gig two nights ago at an outdoor amphitheater because it was too cold on stage, and figured we needed to straighten out the ship and balance the bad with the good.

Because that’s what being a Morrissey fan is all about, right? There’s the bad (the show cancellations, the dumb political statements, the eye-roll-inducing accusations) and then there’s the good (the music, the lyricism, the remarkable comfort of The Smiths when you’re alone and miserable).

Since the latter tends to focus on the music, we’ll carry the torch. Listen to “Jacky’s Only Happy When She’s Up On The Stage” below via Spotify, peep the song’s artwork, and remember: Morrissey wraps up his current tour here in Boston, December 7 at The House of Blues.
