Welcome back, Alice Glass.
It’s been a few years now since the Canadian musician’s tumultuous split with Crystal Castles, and while Glass resurfaced not too long after her departure with 2015 solo track “Stillborn”, today she arrives on the scene with a stronger sense of affirmation via a new single titled “Without Love.”
The thrashing electronic-pop track, which has a bit of a glitchy Grimes flavor to it, comes complete with Glass’ debut music video. The visually striking clip was co-produced by The FADER and MAAVVEN, and directed by Floria Sigismondi, known for her work on The Handmaids Tale and The Runaways. From The FADER: “[T]he music video for ’Without Love’ features Alice Glass in various surreal, floral-filled settings both ominous and bright. Wrapped in wooded vines and colorful flowers, Glass repeats the lyric ’How are you gonna lie about me now?’ over a synth-laden hook and is eventually consumed by the mysterious vegetation.”
Glass will hit the road this fall on a tour opening for Marilyn Manson, and that blackened beat train pulls into Boston’s House of Blues on October 2. Get all the dates after the video jump.
