Icelandic luminaries Sigur Rós have announced a North American tour this morning, and two things immediately jump out to us here in frigid New England. One, there is no Boston date (again). And two, there is a gaping two-day break in their itinerary between a May 25 gig in Maryland and a May 28 appearance in Toronto.
This spring’s Boston Calling Music Festival — an expanded effort taking over the Harvard University Athletic Complex after three years and seven fests at City Hall Plaza — goes down May 26, 27, and 28. And we’re looking at a map right now and yup, Boston is kinda situated between Maryland and Toronto.
So allow us to wildly speculate here. We know nothing for sure, just connecting some Hopelandic dots. Don’t @ us.
That said, Sigur Rós have ignored Boston before, as recently as this past fall when they bypassed the New England market entirely. The band’s last show in town, we believe, was a March 2013 gig at Agganis Arena.
