New Rose, New Shows: Punk legends the Damned announce 40th anniversary North American tour

This past weekend saw the 40th anniversary of the release of the Damned’s debut single “New Rose”, and now it looks like the English pioneers of goth and punk will spend much of 2017 celebrating that milestone and a similar achievement of February 1977 debut album Damned Damned Damned.

After playing stateside shows in Los Angeles and New York City this week, the Damned will return to North America for a 34-date Spring 2017 tour that comes to Boston’s Paradise Rock Club on April 4. Tickets to the all-ages Boston show go on sale Friday at 10 a.m.

Meanwhile, Dave Vanian and company not too long ago launched a PledgeMusic campaign for a new record. That campaign generated 224% of their goal on the strength of nearly 4,000 contributors, and the new album, due next year, will be the band’s first new album since 2008’s So, Who’s Paranoid?.

To commemorate this current milestone, “New Rose” will be re-released with a limited edition 7-inch anniversary picture disc on November 4 via BMG. The current lineup of the Damned consists of Vanian, Captain Sensible, Monty Oxymoron, Pinch, and Stu West.

Check out their full tour dates after the video jump.
