Photo Gallery: M83, Chairlift, and Sofi Tukker light up Boston’s Blue Hills Bank Pavilion

Last night at the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion, Boston bounced along to an illuminated beat. In town supporting new album Junk, French electronic-pop luminaries M83 kicked off with a slight throwback, opening with their expansive, gazing electronic pop Hurry Up, We're Dreaming track "Reunion"; frontman, songwriter, and producer Anthony Gonzalez set the scene for a high-energy set with his unique singing style, aided by a tight backing band and one very cool light show. As the set went on, it was hard not to smile as Gonzalez and his band absolutely lit up the stage (literally) as they played with not only the stellar visuals around them, but also the pure passion for their music radiating into the crowd. Prior to M83 were Brooklyn duo Chairlift, which delivered a chilled-out set with bright colors a wide range of vocal sounds. During very minor technical difficulties, Caroline Polachek warmed up the crowd with a haunting solo with her saxophone player, preparing those at the Pavilion for a more dance-worthy set. Openers (and fellow New Yorkers) Sofi Tukker utilized heavy-bass and euro-beats for a set that recalled Grimes, and Sophie Hawley-Weld's bilingual vocals hypnotized as they swapped in and out of English and Portuguese.
