Light Waves: Crystal Castles confirm new album ‘Amnesty (I)’, share official single ‘Char’

We just can’t quit Crystal Castles.

Last month, we got excited over the leak of new track “Concrete” via a Korean music website, and last week, we hit full arousal over the Canadian electro duo’s fall North American tour, which hits the Sinclair in Cambridge on October 9. As we posted both those notes, details on Crystal Castles’ new album were purely speculative — until now.

Producer/singwriter Ethan Kath and new singer Edith Frances today have confirmed the new LP will be titled Amnesty (I), the official follow-up to 2012’s III, and it’s due out August 19 via Casablanca Records. To celebrate the news, Crystal Castles have shared the record’s first single, and — surprise! — it’s not any of the previously leaked and/or shared songs. Instead, it’s a synth-heavy dancer called “Char”. Listen to it below.

Amnesty (I), meanwhile, will feature 12 new tracks. Pre-order it here, here, and here starting at 7 p.m. today (eastern time).
