Pixies roar back with new track ‘Um Chagga Lagga’; unveil upcoming Head Carrier LP

It was around this time last year when the Pixies helped send off Cambridge rock club T.T. The Bear’s Place, and since then, both institutions of Boston rock have been rather quiet. This morning, however, the Pixies have broken the silence with a roaring new guitar-rock track titled “Um Chagga Lagga”, and it’s the first bit of music off the Massachusetts band’s upcoming album, Head Carrier.

Head Carrier is due September 30 via Pixiesmusic and Play It Again Sam.

The record is the latest effort from this new era of the Pixies, and follows 2014 LP Indie Cindy, a combination of a trio of EPs the band began to release two years prior. On Head Carrier, the Pixies are rounded out by new bassist Paz Lenchantin, formerly of A Perfect Circle and Zwan, who replaced Kim Deal’s replacement, Kim Shattuck.

In true Pixies form, Lenchantin adds some vocals on “Um Chagga Lagga” to help smooth out the edges, and you can listen to it below.
