Boston Music Awards to relocate to House of Blues this December, unveil new website and owner

The Boston Music Awards are returning to Boston.

After last year's party at the Sinclair in Cambridge and several before it at swank hotels around the city, the Boston Music Awards will throwdown at the House of Blues on Lansdowne Street on December 8.

Included in the BMAs release this morning was the official unveiling of its new owner, Redefined. Disclosure: Redefined is co-owner of Vanyaland, and its CEO, Paul Armstrong, is our website's co-founder.

Also part of the new BMAs rollout this morning is the launch of a new homepage, at bostonmusicawards.com, that will serve as a platform for voting, news updates, and the source of a digital archive of the awards' storied 29-year history.

"As one of the longest running music awards shows in the United States, there is naturally a lot of history to look back on," says Armstrong in a press release. “We wanted to bring the awards into the digital age and give them a platform that shines a light on them properly. This is an obvious first step, but one that hadn't been delivered until now. We're delighted to share this history with not only Boston, but the world.”

Armstrong takes over as BMAs owner from Jake Brennan, who produced the event from 2008 to 2015 and will remain involved with as co-chair of a Boston Music Awards advisory board. Below are some key dates as Boston Music Awards season approaches. Early-bird tickets to the December 8 awards party are on sale now, with the password: BMA2016.
