Fly High: Ladyhawke returns with razor-sharp synth jam ‘Dangerous’, announces U.S. tour

Our 2016 electro-pop mixtape is starting to take shape. We don’t want to give too much away, but today we’ve placed the missing link between Kristin Kontrol’s synth banger “X-Communicate” and Contact’s vibrant “Never Stop” — and it’s from an old fave ready for a long-overdue comeback.

That sensational jam comes from New Zealand singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Pip Brown, known across dance floors as Ladyhawke. It’s called “Dangerous”, it’s as icy as it is sharp, and it’s maybe her best work since 2008’s “Magic”. Shit, we even hear a bit of the Beatles’ “Tomorrow Never Knows” in there. Listen to it below.

Following March pulsator “A Love Song”, “Dangerous” is the second snake-tongued taste off Ladyhawke’s upcoming third LP Wild Things, due June 3 via Polyvinyl Records. And it’ll be a full June swoon for fans of Ms. Brown, as Ladyhawke will cross the Pacific for a U.S. tour that kicks off June 21 at Brighton Music Hall in Allston and heads west into July. Full dates are below, and tickets to the Brighton gig are on sale now.
