Tributes to Prince have been fast and furious around the world, and Boston has been no exception. This afternoon, Red Sox DJ TJ Connelly spun a bunch of Prince tunes between innings at Fenway Park, and tonight, boston.com is reporting that The Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge just outside TD Garden will be lit up in purple.

In addition to the Zakim, which connects Interstate 93 north of Boston, there will be Prince’s color glowing across the state — Boston’s South Station and Government Center, as well as the Burns Bridge in Central Mass, will also have a purple glare.

More from BDC:

Gov. Charlie Baker will have the state Department of Transportation light the Zakim Bridge purple Thursday night in honor of the pop star’s life. According to a Baker aide, the governor believes Purple Rain is one of the best albums of all time.

The ever-changing color Zakim Bridge is often illuminated for a cause. The Charles River-spanning bridge has shined the colors of the Belgian and French flags to honor the victims of recent terrorist attacks. It has also been lit to raise awareness for Down syndrome and Autism.

Class move by Baker and the state Department of Transportation.
