Agaetis Burn: Sigur Ros announce fall North American tour, ignore us in New England

Icelandic legends Sigur Ros are touring North America later this year, but New Englanders will have to travel to get their Jonsi on. The atmospheric outfit’s 17 date tour kicks off September 9 in Vancouver and has two New York dates, but nothing in Boston or the surrounding areas.

How do you say “piss off” in Hopelandic?

According to reports, Sigur Ros will be performing two sets on each stop, no string or brass sections are along for the ride, and word is they’ll be playing “new interpretations of old songs that haven’t been played in a very long time.”

Here’s more from the band: “In addition to playing songs you know, we wanted to remember the seat-of-your-pants feeling experienced in the wake of ágætis byrjun, when for two years we formed and re-formed the songs that would go on to be the ( ) album live in front of people, night after night. All we can say right now is it’s going to be different, with new unreleased songs, a new show and maybe some other new things. Beyond that, we can only ask you to trust us on this one.”

If only we could trust y’all to play Boston.

For most shows, including the pair of NYC gigs, tickets go on sale Friday.
