Unwritten Law frontman Scott Russo undergoes surgery for undisclosed ailment

California punk band Unwritten Law are set to hit the road next week to support a new acoustic album, titled simply Acoustic, but have hit an unexpected roadblock: frontman Scott Russo has reportedly undergone surgery today to deal with an undisclosed ailment.

It doesn’t appear that the band’s upcoming tour, which hits the Middle East in Cambridge on April 1 — the same day as Acoustic’s release — is in jeopardy.

The band’s label, Cyber Tracks, which is owned and operated by NOFX guitarist El Hefe and his wife, Jen Abeyta, released the following statement: “Today our Cyber Tracks family is asking for your prayers, love, and support as Scott Russo (Unwritten Law) is undergoing surgery this afternoon. While we are not authorized to go into detail at this time, we are asking the Unwritten Law community to band together in support of Scott. We will keep you updated as the day goes on. Scott and the band thank you in advance for the well wishes, and send their love in return.”

The message was just sent out by The Catalyst Publicity Group.

The new Unwritten Law LP is said to feature two new tracks and acoustic renditions of songs spanning their 25-year career. Get more info on it here, and check the band’s full run of dates and the track “Celebration”, which originally appeared on their 2005 album Here’s To The Mourning.
