Turn And Face The Street: David Bowie tribute in New York City is not in plain sight

Ever since the iconic musician’s passing last month, endless amounts of David Bowie tributes have been right in our faces. But one artist has taken a different approach in New York City, putting some “fashion” in the streets — and all you need to do is turn to the left, and then turn to the right.

Sub Pop musician Kristin Kontrol (a.k.a. Kristin Welchez, a.k.a. Dee Dee of Dum Dum Girls) posted a video of the Bond Street mural over the weekend. As you approach from the side, the face of an elder Bowie appears. When you look straight on, there appears to be nothing in the fence rails. Then as you carry on, Aladdin Sane appears.

“I’m not 100% sure but it looks very much like the work of a German duo called Zebrating,” says Daniel Holland on Twitter.

Others on Facebook say it could be the work of the New York artist who lives in the building behind the gate — a similar tribute appeared in 2011 for the late Steve Jobs.
