The Boss Of Us: Bruce Springsteen announces The River Tour, plays Boston in February

Boston has had its share of hits and misses with Bruce Springsteen over the past few years.

Back in 2012, the Boss played Fenway Park as part of the stadium’s 100th anniversary celebrations and brought some New Jersey flair that one-time Red Sox prospect Anthony Ranaudo could never deliver. Then last year, Springsteen hit the road for several dates across the country, but ignored Boston entirely while playing wild-card cities like Cincinnati and Tampa.

Today, it looks like we’re kissing and making up: The Boss announced a 24-date tour with the E Street Band this morning that hits the TD Garden on February 4.

The River Tour 2016 is a nine-week US trek that kicks off January 16 in Pittsburgh and wraps March 17 in Los Angeles. The tour announcement coincides with today’s release of The Ties That Bind: The River Collection, a comprehensive 52-song box set album that examines classic 1980 album The River.

Springsteen’s official website reports that each night of the tour will be recorded and mixed as a high-quality download or CD via Live.BruceSpringsteen.net, to be made available a few days after each show. Tickets to The River Tour go on sale next Friday, December 11, via the usual suspects.
